Monmouth at the Team was always a go for Aug. 15-21, but now it has approval from the U.S. Equestrian Federation.

This ambitious project, moving New Jersey’s oldest horse show from the multi-ring Horse Park of New Jersey to the U.S. Equestrian Team Foundation headquarters in Gladstone, Somerset County, will be highlighted by Level 3 jumper competition with more than $25,000 in prize money. HorseFlight is presenting a $10,000 mini-prix.

Hunters are C-rated, with a date leased from West Milford Equestrian Center. The show, presented by horse show judge Tucker Ericson and his cousin, Centenary College Assistant Professor of Equine Studies Michael Dowling, is featuring a $10,000 hunter derby; NJPHA, NJHSA and Marshall & Sterling classes, as well a competition involving the Outreach Program for lower-level riders.

The social side will play a big role in the show, with top-notch catering and live music from the Thursday through the Sunday.

Precise Builders is the show’s partner for three years in constructing two new structures at the USET. One is a utility building for jump and equipment storage. The other is a pavilion for judges and announcers, complete with heating and air conditioning.

The prizelist will be available early in June, when the show’s website also is expected to be finished. In the meantime, sponsors are being sought to join the large group already on board. For questions, contact Tucker at jtericson1969@gmail.com or Michael at windhamhilllc@gmail.com.
